Michael Jackson “Tribute to the King of Pop” Minimalist Posters

Once again we are reminded that Michael Jackson’s music was and still is omnipresent in the lives of people all over the world. Sri Lankan graphic designer Tharanga Punchihewa has put together this impressive commemorative series of minimalist posters that pay homage to the late great king of pop. Each of the seven posters featured center around one of Jackson’s many hit songs, using black and white contrast to create an image that forever reminds us of MJ’s dance moves and poses. If you’re a true Michael Jackson fanatic, these posters of one of music’s greatest icons would certainly be meaningful to have hanging up in your home if they do become available for sale at some point.

ESPO’s Love Letters to Syracuse

Famed graffiti writer and author, Stephen “Espo” Powers has decided to display another chapter in his chain of “Love Letters to Syracuse”.  The paint roller pioneer has taken up this project to connect the divide that exists amongst two of the city’s neighborhoods, one’s that have a significant economic disparity between them.  His intention is to make such a visual mark of the division become a topic of conversation amongst the city’s residents.  You can check out the project’s official site here.

The King’s Cover Art Uncaged

Here’s the cover of T.I.’s latest album King Uncaged.  The image featuring a lion and a throne for the king of the south himself certainly gets the theme of royalty across on a plain white backdrop.  Although I’m a fan of simplicity, i can’t help but feel that this cover lacks some visual stimulation.  Whether you’re feeling the cover or not, the contents of its product no doubt will be of high caliber seeing as the king has been away from the kingdom of hip-hop for some time and will have to reaffirm his status at the top of the game. For those who may have forgotten how serious (no pun intended) T.I.’s albums can get my best guess would be that you’re in for a surprise come August 17th.  Check out a trailer for album after the jump.

“The Quest” World Cup Video From Adidas

Adidas just released this trailer to officially jump start their celebration of the 2010 World Cup games in South Africa.  The video features some known players from around the globe as well as some cool CGI effects.  It’s a pretty decent way to build up the hype.  Still, the general consensus is that Nike’s commercials are a step up and with more real, gritty action from the playing field.  Either way it’s going to be an awesome tournament.  Watch the trailer and get ready to cheer your team on.  The games begin this Friday,

Keep Watch For iWatch

While merely a concept for now, the iWatch looks like it could potentially be a very exciting gadget from the pics at least.  The design comes from ADR Studios and keeps in line with Apple’s sleek and polished look.  Information is very limited at the current moment as to what functions such a device might come equipped with but something tells me it would be the coolest watch to own if and when it hits the market.  Stay on the lookout for more news on Apple’s concept timepiece.

Recreating Michelanegelo with Super Mario

The Sistine Chapel meet’s Super Nintendo.  That’s what comes to mind when one surveys Game Over, a recent work of polish artist Kordian Lewandowski. Inspired by Michelangelo’s La Pietà, the figure consists of two of gaming’s most recognizable characters cut out of Carrara styrofoam in careful detail. The artwork displays Princess Peach holding a deceased Mario in her arms, giving a modern facelift to the original La Pieta concept.

Take a trip to http://wielkiartysta.pl/content/index.html and check out an array of  work by this thought provoking artist.  More images of  his take on La Pietà along with original La Pietà and insight from the modern piece’s creator after the jump.

A New Routine in Comedy: EricsWorldTV

People are always looking for a good laugh, but it doesn’t always have to come from a millionaire movie star’s latest flick or the antics of network sitcoms.  How about some humor from a group of people that are more down to earth, more like you…except for the fact that they have twisted thought patterns and the balls enough to put themselves out there, poking fun at everyday issues that most wouldn’t do in front of a camera.  The minds over at EricsWorldTV (www.youtube.com/ericsworldtv)  have cranked out a bunch of outrageous and daring skits in the last few months.  Check out their latest skit in which Eric becomes pretty offensive after a chick turns him down, resulting in him facing the consequences.  A guest appearance is made by up and coming Queens, NY emcee Costell (http://www.youtube.com/user/RicoCostell) as E’s basketball buddy.  Keep up with their comedy sketches and get updates on new projects via the team’s Facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/EricsWorldTV/107730132592568?ref=ts)
