Banksy has become so mainstream he’s being mentioned in the same breath with Tom Hanks. That’s right the street artist has been spoofed by another artist replacing “Bank” with “Hank.” So take some of Banksy’s best works and Tom Hanks most memorable movie roles and without further ado witness Hanksy.

Banksy placed an interesting piece in the Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool. Check out his “Cardinal Sin” sculpture.
“The piece, made in response to the child abuse scandals that the church seems to be known for these days, features a face taken off and replaced by blank bathroom tiles. Banksy noted in a statement, “I’m never sure who deserves to be put on a pedestal or crushed under one.” The sculpture sits next to religious works dated from the 17th Century.”

Part 2 of Banksy in Hollywood, depicts a young girl standing next to a house she drew. The door of the house is being boarded up by a man. The color scheme of the stenciling is black and white. Who knows what will go on, the Academy Awards takes place in Los Angeles, February 27. Nominated for “Best Documentary” for his film debut, Exit Through the Gift Shop. Seems like Banksy has something planned.

Banksy has been denied entry to the Oscars in disguise. The artist is up for Best Documentary for his first film, ”Exit Through the Gift Shop.” The executive director of the Academy, Bruce Davis opened up about the matter. “The fun but disquieting scenario is that if the film wins and five guys in monkey masks come to the stage all saying, ‘I’m Banksy,’ who the hell do we give it to?” Davis said.
Academy president Tom Sherak, is definitely open to Banksy’s appearance weighed in on the matter. Hit the jump to see what Sherak and Banky were quoted saying.

So Banksy gets invited February 27th for the ceremony at the Kodak Theatre. I guess he’ll be a no show but maybe he’ll have an interesting way of accepting if he wins.
