The Strokes have confirmed the album is in the mixing stages and was finished mid-novemeber. After a few solo projects the group came back together this year in perfect timing. Here is five reasons the genre needs the Strokes.
1) Their first album Is This It was labeled album of the decade by NME. So why not start the next decade off right with a new Strokes album.
2) With a wide fan base across the planet the U.S. isn’t the only country waiting for some new material. Another album would without a doubt translate to a tour.
3) During their final tour in 2006 Julian Casablancas announced a “much needed break.” Well breaks up four years later the band is back
4) The band is noted for giving the genre a burst of energy when they came on to the scene. Now the genre is in the same dismay it was back in 2001, bands like the Kings of Leon and Coldplay have taken their careers to another level becoming products of the redundant mainstream.
5) No member become a big enough star on his own, but as a collective the group is without a doubt huge. Egos were put aside, one or two sobered up and now fans receive the fourth album early 2011.
