Time Machine: MTV Turns 30 Today

First off happy birthday MTV! From my adolescent years between the ages of 7-15 watching music videos before school was a morning ritual. The original idea behind the channel was to play music videos  with hosts known as VJ’s. Some great programs that come to mind, Yo! MTV Raps, Daria, Beavis and Butthead, TRL, Cribs, MTV Diary, Award Shows, most recently MTV Rap Fix but the music videos were always the best.

Well, the channel formerly known as “Music Television” now turns 30 under “Modern Television.” Hopefully the music finds its way back to the programming department and away from this Jersey Shore, Teen Mom bullshit. #NoShotsThough

Kanye West Named MTV’s ‘Man Of The Year’

“After all, no one dominated the pop-culture landscape quite like he did. From his self-imposed hiatus to his triumphant return to his tantrums (and, of course, his tweets), everyone was talking about West in 2010. No one completed as compelling a comeback story, and most importantly, no one released an album as searing and soaring as My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. And he did it all his way, without compromise or contrition. It truly was 12 months to behold. (MTV) “
